Who was Bama?

Iris “Bama” Levine, was a positive, up-lifting, giving woman who lit up the room when she walked in. She was a wonderful mother and the greatest grandmother. Known for her laughter and gift of gab she had an exciting and bubbly personality. Bama was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in the summer of 2010. She did not let the news affect her attitude. She was extremely strong and courageous and did not lose her resolve to fight. She tried to live life to the fullest each and every day. She was gentle but dynamic and a warrior to the end.

Bama received treatment at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Cancer Center at Duke which is world renowned for both research and treatment of brain tumors. After 2 years of fighting and giving it her best, Bama passed away.

What can one learn from someone like Bama? To be strong, courageous and live life to the fullest; To not sweat the small stuff and always see the good in people; To smile, give compliments and be positive; To laugh; To be nice; To have fun. These are just a few of Bama’s personality traits. We will forever be grateful for all that she gave not only to us her family, but others as well.
